Field work with a laser scanner in a forest. The laser scanner works in a
similar way to a surface mapping sonar. The equipment creates a cloud of points
in space that are only data and information in themselves. By amplifying the
viewing area the conjunction of coordinates and data creates in our brain a
perception of a known and familiar environment. Individually they are just
points in space, together they are a forest. Paradox of human cognitive
functioning.
We do not distinguish units. We are unaware of the complexity of
matter creating an illusory schematization of separate units as larger,
comprehensible units. Are we particles coexisting and interacting? Or are we
complex units or entities that stand in a seed relationship?
